Hiring Range: $55,000 - $65,000. Salary commensurate with relevant experience.

The full-time Research Associate will manage the NIMH-funded study Development of a School-Based Prevention Intervention to Promote Adolescent Mental Health Equity (R34MH136018) and assist on the NIMH-funded study, Design of a Lay Health Worker Training to Promote Youth's Access to mHealth Interventions (R21MH135234) both led by the BCSSW Assistant Professor Dr. Maggi Price.

The Research Associate will report to the studies' Principal Investigator (PI): Assistant Professor Dr. Maggi Price.

The Research Associate will primarily manage activities for an NIH-funded study (R34MH136018), such as participant recruitment and retention, data collection and cleaning, and overseeing a multi-site clinical trial. They will serve as liaison between the study team (e.g., Professor Price, Professor Poteat at Lynch School of Education), partners (e.g., schools), and participants (e.g., school staff). The Research Associate will also collaborate with other BC entities, such as the Office of Sponsored Programs and the Institutional Review Board. In addition, the RA will assist in activities related to another one of Dr. Price's NIH-funded studies (R21MH135234) such as data collection and analysis.

Essential functions of this position:

Development of a School-Based Prevention Intervention to Promote Adolescent Mental Health Equity (R34MH136018):

  • Oversee community partnerships, participant recruitment and retention, and data collection (qualitative interviews and quantitative surveys) [30%]
  • Manage a team of volunteer research assistants [25%]
  • Support grant management (e.g., analyze data for annual reporting, draft reports) [20%]
  • Assist with Institutional Review Board (IRB) amendments and grant submissions [15%]

Design of a Lay Health Worker Training Intervention to Promote Mental Health Care Access for Racially Diverse Transgender Youth (R21MH135234):

  • Support data collection and analysis [5%]
  • Provide human-centered design consultation and assist in developing study protocol and materials [5%]

This role primarily operates in a professional office environment which may require occasional travel to partner sites across Massachusetts. Additionally, the Research Associate may need to work outside regular business hours to meet project demands.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or related fields required
  • Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certificate required
  • 1+ year experience working in a research lab assisting with federally and/or foundation-funded research required
  • 1+ year experience managing people and/or projects (e.g., student organization, mentoring others) required
  • 1+ year experience with data cleaning and analysis (quantitative and/or qualitative) required
  • 1+ year experience interviewing and consenting study participants of varying ages and roles (e.g., youth, parents, professionals) required
  • This role requires competency in: Human-centered design methods; Data collection and analysis; Utilizing computer applications including Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint; Oral and written communication skills; Teamwork
