We seek a full-time experienced Administrator within the Department of Physics at the University of Strathclyde to support the operation of the Quantum Centre for Nuclear Defence and Security (QCNDS).

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of the Centre. The QCNDS Administrator will be responsible for responding to first line enquiries and the provision of initial advice in a professional manner, operating a variety of IT systems to assist the efficient operation of QCNDS, and supporting the development of processes including documentation, training and exercises for implementation across the University.

The Administrator will act as first point of contact for public and internal queries, in addition to managing interactions with partners and staff. They will provide support to the Director and Management in all aspects of the operation of QCNDS and will work closely with them to contribute to the strategic and operational development of the centre.

The ideal candidate will be approachable and efficient, with a motivation to contribute to the team and wider Centre’s objectives. Remaining calm under pressure and working to tight deadlines, you will be able to act on your own initiative and to prioritise workload. Excellent verbal and written communication skills will be essential in order to successfully build relationships across the institution, and deal with various scenarios with colleagues and other interested parties.

The successful candidate must be educated to minimum HNC/HND level in a relevant discipline or have significant relevant experience, with strong administration and a high level of IT competency including SharePoint and Microsoft Office. Ideally you will have worked within the Higher Education Sector and have experience of financial management in the same area.

The role will be based in the Department of Physics at the University of Strathclyde.
