Research Coordinator

University of Oxford - Department of Experimental Psychology

Location: Oxford
Salary: £39,424 to £45,212 per annum
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract

Placed On: 19th February 2026
Closes: 13th March 2026
Job Ref: 184957

The Oxford Cognitive Approaches to Psychosis (O-CAP) clinical psychology research group develops, tests, and implements new theory-driven psychological treatments for patients with psychosis. It is a thriving and supportive clinical research group – led by Prof Daniel Freeman - that aims to carry out work to the highest standards for patients.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic research co-ordinator; to work on a Wellcome Trust funded project looking at patients views of the acceptability of mental health interventions. Treatment acceptability is generally a rather poorly defined concept. Acceptability has therefore been assessed using a variety of different methods sometimes with no criterion for what is acceptable or unacceptable. This means that is can be hard to compare the acceptability of different interventions directly. Our work aims to start to map out how acceptability has been assessed in the context of psychosis. And then to plan for future research into the assessment of acceptability in mental health settings. This will take the form of a scoping review which is already underway, and qualitative work.

The project will involve working extensively with people with lived experience of psychosis both as advisors and participants. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is keen to develop their career in a fast-paced clinical research group.

This is post is fixed term until 1 June 2027 and is offered on a full-time basis. It is located in the new, purpose-built Life and Mind Building (Home | The Life and Mind Building (ox.ac.uk)) a multidisciplinary research and teaching facility.

The postholder would ensure that at all stages that the research undertaken safeguards the well-being of patients, is conducted according to Good Clinical Practice, the protocol, trial standard operating procedures (SOPs) and to the required standards of the department, the funders and any external oversight bodies.

The post-holder will hold a relevant Master’s degree in any area of healthcare including Psychology and Neuroscience or equivalent qualification with experience of qualitative research methodologies and procedures. They will be highly organised with exceptional attention to detail, in addition to excellent communication and presentation skills. They will demonstrate enthusiasm for lived experience involvement in mental health research, and a desire to investigate the underdeveloped area of treatment acceptability in mental health from a patient perspective.
