Job Summary

Drexel University's Department of Civil, Architectural & Environmental Engineering invites applications for a full-time Research Coordinator to assist in project management, research, field monitoring, stakeholder engagement, and proposal development and administrative duties.

With many governmental and non-governmental partners, the Sustainable Water Resource Engineering (SWRE) Laboratory at Drexel University works on a wide range of projects addressing the challenges of managing water in urban environments, adapting cities to the new challenges presented by climate change, as well as sustainability and resilience in general. The lab’s current focus is on the impacts of extreme precipitation and extreme heat, with extensive background experience in green infrastructure and nature-based solutions. Our work is applied, interdisciplinary, and participatory. We primarily work with communities, utilities, and government agencies in the Northeast US, including Philadelphia, New York, Camden, and others. The lab is situated in the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering and will be supervised by Dr. Franco Montalto. The Research Coordinator will become integrated in all facets of the SWRE lab activities

Essential Functions

  • Support the Lab Manager and the PI in preparing and submitting grant proposals to fund lab activities.
  • Support the Lab Manager in the management and analysis of data for research deliverables and reports.
  • Facilitate the development of any literature reviews, graphics, maps, and/or visual heuristics needed to support the preparation of proposals, journal articles, presentations, etc.
  • Lead supervision of student researchers (e.g., co-ops, STARs, independent study, VIPs, etc).
  • Provide as-needed support for the Green Infrastructure, Climate, and Cities seminar series.
  • Lead in-person engagement with community leaders and key stakeholders to co-develop climate adaptation solutions (with virtual support from Lab Manager).
  • Provide as-needed support for administrative tasks and operations (e.g., collecting receipts to share with Lab Manager, details for travel requests, etc.).
  • Lead mapping and spatial analysis tasks using tools such as ArcGIS and related software.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Master's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or other related fields or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490.00 - $71,230.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
