Research Data Analyst 1

The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Rheumatology is seeking a Research Data Analyst 1 to manage and analyze large amounts of information, typically technical or scientific in nature, under the direction of project researchers, investigators, and/or managers. This position will support the Immune Behavioral Health/ Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS) Research program. The ideal candidate will have master’s level training in biostatistics, computer/data science (coding), or epidemiology. This position will work alongside our team’s epidemiologist and clinical data manager, and primarily be responsible for managing and harmonizing several databases (across surveys and our biobank). They will also contribute to specimen selections per criteria, clinical research analyses, table/figure development, and publications (using epidemiologic study designs, including regression techniques); authorship opportunities may be available. Required qualifications include someone who is highly proficient in at least one of the following: R, SAS, Python, SQL, Java, and/or Rust, Code annotation, change control, and has demonstrated experience using the REDCap data collection software platform. We are seeking someone who has a strong interest in research and clinical medicine, particularly in post-infectious neuropsychiatric conditions, and is willing to work across our clinical, basic science and research teams. Ideal candidates will be highly organized, resourceful, self-motivated, method-minded, with a high attention to detail. They should have a willingness to be flexible as they will be part of a small team in which all members have diverse roles. A hybrid or remote work agreement may be considered for this position.

Duties include:

  • Collect, manage and clean datasets.
  • Employ new and existing tools to interpret, analyze, and visualize multivariate relationships in data.
  • Create databases and reports, develop algorithms and statistical models, and perform statistical analyses appropriate to data and reporting requirements.
  • Use system reports and analyses to identify potentially problematic data, make corrections, and determine root cause for data problems from input errors or inadequate field edits, and suggest possible solutions.
  • Develop reports, charts, graphs and tables for use by investigators and for publication and presentation.
  • Analyze data processes in documentation.
  • Collaborate with faculty and research staff on data collection and analysis methods.
  • Provide documentation based on audit and reporting criteria to investigators and research staff.
  • Other duties may also be assigned

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs. The salary for this position working in the California Bay area is between $80,148 to $99,773 based on commensurate experience and background.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and relevant experience. Experience in a quantitative discipline such as statistics, engineering, epidemiology or biostatistics.

  • Substantial experience with MS Office and analytical programs.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload.
  • Willingness and ability to work cross functionally on a small, productive team

  • Sitting in place at computer for long periods of time with extensive keyboarding/dexterity.
  • Occasionally use a telephone.
