This is a full time (36.5 hrs/week) fixed-term contract for up to 17 months finishing no later than 31st December 2027.
We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow for the Clean Aviation project OSYRYS – On-board SYstems Relevant for hYbridization of Regional aircraftS, with the research performed at Warwick led by Principal Investigator, Dr Jose Ortiz Gonzalez.
The overall goal of the project will focus on developing and testing the electrical systems required to make hybridisation feasible on regional aircraft, from power distribution to thermal management. Our focus area within the project are power electronic systems.
This post is based at the University of Warwick, working within the Electrical Power and Control Cluster, however the successful candidate will be required to make trips to the project partners, some of them based in the UK and attending project meetings (Europe).
This is an excellent opportunity for someone previously researching in transportation electrification and reliability of power electronic devices.
About You
We are seeking a highly qualified individual with a minimum 2.1 honours degree in a relevant subject and a PhD (or near completion) in a relevant discipline such as, Engineering, Materials Science, or Physics.
The ideal candidate will have proven ability in research and evidence of quality research output in transportation electrification, especially in the field of reliability and robustness of power electronic devices and converters.
You will have sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques related to reliability in power electronic applications, including experimental testing and modelling.
You will be able to demonstrate your ability to work collaboratively and effectively with academic and administrative colleagues, both within and outside the University, to promote a collegial environment, while contributing to the life and community of the School.
You will possess quantitative and qualitative research skills in physical experimental work in both laboratory and fieldwork environments.
The ability to perform advanced simulations in Matlab and /or lifetime studies would be desirable.
Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing is essential.
