IOE is UCL Faculty of Education and Society.

Founded in 1902, IOE has been shaping policy and helping government, organisations and individuals navigate a changing society for the last 120 years.

The Social Research Institute is one of the leading centres for social research in the UK.

The Centre for Longitudinal Studies is an ESRC Resource Centre. CLS has responsibility for and manages four of Britain's internationally renowned cohort studies:

  • 1958 National Child Development Study (NCDS)
  • 1970 British Cohort Study (BCS70)
  • Millennium Cohort Study (MCS)
  • Next Steps (formerly the Longitudinal Study of Young People in England)

We are looking for a capable and motivated individual to join our survey management team at the Centre for Longitudinal Studies (CLS), part of UCL’s Social Research Institute. You will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of four major national longitudinal studies that provide vital insights into social and economic change across generations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting consultations with the scientific and policy communities to inform the content and priorities of upcoming study sweeps.
  • Assisting in the planning and implementation of survey fieldwork
  • Preparing progress reports and updates for funders and stakeholders.
  • Contributing to the design of questionnaires and respondent materials, and ensuring quality control throughout the survey process.
  • Supporting cohort maintenance and engagement activities.

You will have a solid understanding of survey design and methodology, including ethical considerations in longitudinal research. You may have experience in survey research, social research, or project coordination, and be keen to develop your skills further in a collaborative and impactful research environment.

Please ensure your application form addresses all points in the person specification. Your responses should clearly demonstrate how your skills and experience meet each criterion. It is important that each criterion is clearly numbered and addressed individually.

This post is available until 31st December 2026 in the first instance.
