Research Lab Specialist Senior
The lab is seeking an energetic, self-driven, well-trained, and productive scientist to join a dynamic group and make a difference in the understanding of prostate and kidney cancer biology using a variety of molecular profiling platforms including next generation sequencing, single cell sequencing, spatial techniques, organoids development, and evolving novel platforms amongst others. The overarching goal is to advance how we practice precision medicine.
The successful candidate must be well read, organized and able to multitask, fluent in written and spoken English, be an independent thinker and team player in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills as well.
Senior level:
- Bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position and at least 5 years of related experience, i.e., published in a field of specialty and academic knowledge in a field or discipline.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted, including relevant undergraduate and graduate student work experience.

- Experience in organoids development, next generation sequencing (NGS)-based, single cell, and/or spatial data experiments and analysis.
Intermediate level:
- Bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position and at least 4 years of related experience, i.e., published in a field of specialty and academic knowledge in a field or discipline.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted, including relevant undergraduate and graduate student work experience.
- Post-doctoral fellowship candidates are invited to apply.
- Experience in organoids development, next generation sequencing (NGS)-based, single cell, and/or spatial data experiments and analysis.
- Ph.D. degree in cancer biology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, human genetics, or a related field with appropriate experience in cancer research.
- Working knowledge of laboratory techniques in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, and genetics.
- Experience working with various model systems: 2D, 3D (e.g. organoids), animal models etc.
- Experience with standard bioinformatics software tools and packages for analyzing whole-exome, whole-genome, whole-transcriptome, or targeted DNA/RNA sequencing data e.g. GATK suite, Ion Torrent Suite platform, R/Bioconductor.
- Expertise in one or more of Python, Perl, R, Java, or Javascript as demonstrated by the ability to develop high-quality scientific programs
- Experience in development of dynamic and/or publication-quality data visualizations to synthesize sequencing-based analysis results e.g.,Rshiny, d3, plotly, ggplot2.
- A solid understanding of statistics and experience in the implementation of machine learning and statistical inference algorithms.
- Experience building web applications, web services, and user interfaces using standard software development tools: relational databases, version control systems, front-end Javascript.
- Experience in working on Unix/Linux systems (shell scripting, basic system administration).
- Experience in cloud computing (GCE or AWS).
- Experience in software design.
- Experience with Adobe Suite.
- A strong publication record.
- The successful candidate will be able to prioritize and balance multiple projects to meet timelines.
This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
