Research Professor - Part-time High Energy Physics
Duties
- Using data obtained at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) lead analysis teams to perform measurements of the Higgs boson properties, and other standard model physical phenomena.
- Prepare publications for scientific journals of results obtained at the CERN LHC and new methods to analyze the data.
- Conceive and propose novel applications of instruments in high energy physics and industry.
- 25% Research and data analysis at the Large Hadron Collider.
- 25% Development of new instruments for nuclear and high energy physics detectors.
- 25% Communication of Research Results.
- 25% Mentoring students and postdoctoral fellows.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in High Energy Physics or related field.
- Strong background in the study of natural phenomena in accelerator- and non-accelerator-based experiments to understand the physical phenomena at the highest energies and the development of instrumentation to conduct these experiments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience in the analysis of data obtained in high energy physics experiments, including measurements of the properties of the Higgs boson.
- Proven ability to conceive, propose, and design new detectors to address novel research questions in high energy physics.
- Proven ability in the development of novel detector technologies for high energy and nuclear physics detectors.
- Proven ability to successfully advise graduate students and post-doctoral fellows.
