About the opportunity
The Sydney School of Health Sciences is in a period of exciting and significant investment by the Faculty of Medicine and Health. The University is looking to employee a Research Program Coordinator (HEO 6) to join the Former Athlete Brain Health Research Program.
The Research Program Coordinator oversees all operational functions of the Former Athlete Brain Health Research Program. Reporting to the Chief Investigator, this role is responsible for managing research staff and students, coordinating ethics and governance processes, overseeing data management workflows, and ensuring high quality administrative and project support.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Coordinate administrative and operational activities related to research data collection to ensure efficient and streamlined project workflows
- Oversee data collection, entry, quality assurance, and preliminary analysis to support accurate reporting and compliance
- Prepare and manage ethics applications, amendments, renewals, and associated reporting to ensure adherence to ethical, governance, and regulatory requirements
- Manage administrative components of grant applications, including stakeholder communication, document preparation, and issue resolution
- Maintain accurate project records, support timely submission of reports, and assist senior staff with compliance and governance initiatives
- Coordinate purchasing and procurement processes, monitor spending, and resolve payment discrepancies
- Promote and maintain safe working practices by reviewing protocols, identifying hazards, and collaborating with relevant stakeholders on health and safety standards.
About you
- Experience working in the higher education sector
- Interpreting and applying legislation and policy
- supporting research and researchers in operational and administrative roles
- Project Management experience
- Previous experience with collection, entry, and preliminary analysis of research data for accurate reporting and coordinate ethical submissions and administrative services for grant applications
- Previous experience working in elite/professional sporting environments and liaising with professional sport organisations
- Previous experience supervising student researchers including honours, higher degree research students, and Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians (ACSEP) trainees
- Previous clinical experience in medicine or allied health professions is preferable
- Experience with managing budgets
- Familiarity with Windows Powershell commands (or OS equivalent, i.e. Linux Ubuntu) for MR data library management
- Advanced REDCap expertise
- Strong understanding of epidemiological study designs, including coordination of longitudinal research programs
- Comprehension of epidemiological study designs (running a longitudinal program).
