POSITION DETAILS
The CUNY Mexican Studies Institute (MSI) based at Lehman College is dedicated to empowering Mexican and broader Latinx communities in New York City through research, education, and community engagement.
The institute seeks a Research Program Coordinator to support the development, implementation, and dissemination of its research and publications initiatives. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Research and Publications, the Research Program Coordinator will contribute to the daily operations related to the different research lines and initiatives of CUNY MSI. The Research Program Coordinator will support with the organization and consolidation of the CUNY MSI Archives and Library project, both digital and physical, and will provide administrative and programmatic support to the area, engaging in the different research and publications activities, especially implementing and developing academic projects, ensuring their execution and final production projects are executed effectively and disseminated widely.
- Support the Assistant Director in developing research proposals, plans, designs, and execution. Conduct literature reviews, collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data, and prepare findings.
- Organize and manage research archives, databases, and publications (digital and physical)
- Utilize statical tools and software to analyze data; generate charts, graphs, and reports. Maintain accurate documentation of methodologies, protocols, and results.
- Draft, edit, and proofread research reports, academic articles, and manuscripts for publication.
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards and institutional reviews board (IRB) requirements when applicable. Supervise staff, interns, and volunteers engaged in research and publishing projects.
- Assist in identifying external funding opportunities and preparing research grant proposals. Support the planning and logistics of academic conferences, workshops, and symposia.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Please note: This role is temporary, with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2026.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required in relevant field (e.g., Social Sciences, Humanities, Anthropology, Sociology, Latin American, Iberian, and Latino Cultures).
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (oral and written)
- Proven ability to supervise and mentor staff, interns, or student researchers.
- Experience in research administration, including archives, grant writing, and academic publishing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and research-related software and databases. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Assists with the administration of College research programs and coordinates research facilities.
- Works with faculty and others to prepare, set-up, and monitor budgets for research project expenditures, including new faculty start-ups and funds for facilities
- Collects information for, and prepares fiscal and program reports on research projects
- May assist with preparing grant proposals and providing information to funding sources.
- Assists with space planning for research efforts
- Works with Environmental Health and Safety personnel on planning, monitoring, and compliance
- Maintains databases and other systems that collect information regarding College research activities
- Schedules, coordinates and prepares materials for meetings.
- Coordinates with other offices to prepare agendas and reports.

Salary commensurate with education and experience. $52,426
