Research Project Manager, HIV Prevention & Implementation Science, School of Nursing

Job Description Summary

The Research Project Manager will provide comprehensive coordination and operational support for multiple funded research studies focused on HIV prevention, HIV care, and implementation science. The position supports multisite clinical and community-based research and requires strong project management, regulatory, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Working closely with the Principal Investigators and research teams, the Project Manager will manage day-to-day study activities, support implementation across partner sites, oversee regulatory processes, and contribute to qualitative and mixed-methods research activities. The role requires experience in HIV research and competence with implementation science frameworks.

Job Description

1) Study Coordination & Project Management

  • Coordinate daily operations of multiple HIV prevention and care research projects.
  • Track study timelines, milestones, and deliverables across projects.
  • Develop and maintain project management systems and study documentation.
  • Coordinate team meetings, prepare agendas, and document action items.
  • Support preparation of progress reports, manuscripts, and presentations.

2) Implementation & Site Engagement

  • Support rollout and fidelity monitoring of implementation protocols across clinical and community partner sites.
  • Serve as liaison with the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, clinical partners, and community-based organizations.
  • Coordinate training and technical assistance for partner sites.
  • Monitor site performance and troubleshoot implementation barriers.
  • Facilitate Community Advisory Board (CAB) activities, including meeting coordination and documentation.

3) Regulatory & Compliance

  • Prepare and submit IRB applications, amendments, and continuing reviews.
  • Maintain regulatory binders and ensure compliance with University and sponsor requirements.
  • Track human subjects training and study certifications for team members.
  • Ensure all study procedures adhere to approved protocols.

4) Participant Recruitment & Study Operations

  • Oversee participant recruitment workflows, screening, consenting, and follow-up.
  • Supervise and train research assistants on study procedures.
  • Coordinate participant reimbursement and tracking.
  • Monitor recruitment and retention metrics.
  • Assist in development of semi-structured interview guides.
  • Coordinate and conduct qualitative interviews and focus groups.
  • Lead or support qualitative coding using software (e.g., Dedoose, ATLAS.ti, NVivo).
  • Prepare qualitative summaries and analytic memos.

5) Data Management & Reporting

  • Support data cleaning, coding, and preparation for analysis.
  • Generate routine data quality and progress reports.
  • Coordinate secure data transfers with partner sites.
  • Maintain documentation of implementation challenges and adaptations.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Master's degree and 2-3 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Additional required experience:
Experience coordinating multisite clinical or community-based studies.
Experience with participant recruitment, screening, and consenting.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and REDCap or similar data systems.

Preferred qualifications:
Graduate degree in Public Health, Nursing, Social Sciences, Implementation Science, or related field.
Experience with biomedical HIV prevention (e.g., PrEP, ART, LAED).
Experience with qualitative research and analysis software.
Experience working with Community Advisory Boards.
Experience preparing IRB submissions.
Experience supervising research staff.
Familiarity with social determinants of health frameworks.

Special Requirements

Ability to travel locally to community and clinical partner sites as needed.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced research environment.

$57,500.00 - $68,000.00 Annual Rate

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level.
