Job Description

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $80,000 to $93,000; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

This is a grant-funded position.

The Research Project Manager (RPM) will be responsible for day-to-day execution and management of project activities for a NIDA-funded R61/R33 clinical trial. The goal of the project is to adapt and implement a participatory workplace clinical trial intervention for residential substance use facilities in Massachusetts. The project is a partnership between multiple academic institutions (Boston College, Harvard University, Washington University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and the Workforce Development Unit of the Bureau of Substance Addiction Services at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
The RPM will report to the PI, Associate Professor Erika Sabbath. The PM will be charged with the direct implementation of the clinical trial study design set forth by the investigators and lead day-to-day project planning and management.

Essential functions of this role include:

Project Leadership (15%):
* Primary stewardship of relationships with community partners
* Work with Recovery Homes Collaborative and the Bureau of Substance Addiction Services on the recruitment of the thirty study worksites, making in-person visits to the worksites as needed
* Maintain responsibility for quality assurance related to data collection and intervention implementation and delivery
* Prepare initial drafts of funder study reports (e.g. RPPR, R61 to R33 transition application) for Dr Sabbath's review.

Project Management (40%):
* In collaboration with investigators and community partners, develop and monitor the overall study timeline
* Keep the study team (led by Dr. Erika Sabbath at Boston College and Dr. Susan Peters at Harvard) informed about study progress and flag any issues related to study design, implementation, budget, IRB, or timeline
* Work closely with the investigator team on developing investigator team meeting agendas in accordance with project milestone goals, and with on intervention development project meeting agendas
* Generate and assign action items and monitor progress towards completion
* Oversee the work of student research assistants who are assisting with project management tasks

Intervention Delivery and Data Collection (35%):
* Assist the PIs in the preparation of all study training materials for the worker committees at each participating facility
* Manage development of intervention protocols
* Coordinate materials design and production of all recruitment and intervention materials
* Work with study statistician Dr. Melissa McTernan and the Boston College RedCAP team on development and programming the worker survey and other data collection materials
* Work closely with the Investigator team on the design of the process tracking database, and on overseeing process tracking data entry completed by each facility director
* During the R61 phase, oversee and participate in formative data collection
* During the R61 phase, participate in qualitative analyses as needed
* During the R61 phase, act as the study interventionist, traveling to the pilot facilities to deliver the intervention and pilot data collection procedures
* Oversee the work of student research assistants who are assisting with intervention delivery and data collection tasks

Budget and Administrative Management (10%)
* Primary budget monitoring responsibilities
* Day-to-day management of the budget, including managing disbursement of data collection incentives to research participants, stipends to intervention facilities, and payment of project consultants and advisory board members
* Submit protocols and other project materials to the Institutional Review Board, and will oversee the human subjects' protection process assuring that all research staff are in compliance with human subject certification requirements

The RPM position will be based at Boston College. During data collection periods, the work setting will include residential addiction treatment centers across the state of Massachusetts. During certain periods, the RPM may need to work outside regular business hours to meet project demands.

Requirements

Required qualifications:

• Master's degree in social work, public health, psychology, human services, or a related field
• Technical experience with the following: Management of clinical trials; Project management; Data collection; Human subjects protocols
• Experience with Budget management and building and maintaining relationships with community partners
• Proficiency with Project management software; RedCAP and/or Qualtrics; Canva
• 10+ years of experience in leading clinical trials and academic project management
