About Us
The Department of Neuroscience at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine is seeking a Research Assistant on an NIH-funded project investigating chemotherapy-induced cognitive deficits in childhood survivors of leukemia. A highly motivated individual with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong communication skills are required. Proficiency in software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required. Familiarity with ERP research and/or psychophysiological measures, and basic programming skills (e.g., Matlab, Python) are a big plus. This is a two-year position, with renewal dependent upon continuation of funding.
Position Responsibilities
The person will:
- Perform a moderate number of simple or moderate technical procedures;
- Primary responsibilities include: Set up and organize lab equipment and supplies and perform sound and system calibrations. Adhere to all policies and procedures governing the ethical conduct of human subjects research. Collect data for behavioral and EEG experiments. Post-processing of EEG and behavioral data for analyses. Data management, quality control, and recording keeping, including creating graphs, figures, and tables
- Require occasional guidance;
- Occasionally be responsible for ordering routine supplies;
- Rarely modify technical procedures;
- Rarely train other lab members;
- Rarely guide other lab members;
- A simple / limited understanding of scientific literature and the research goals and rationale is required;
- Occasionally analyze data;
- Rarely interpret data;
- Rarely make written contributions to papers and grant proposals.
Qualifications
BA or BS degree in related science or equivalent skills and experience plus 0-2 years experience is required. Background in psychology or cognitive neuroscience preferred.
Hiring Rate
Hiring Rate: $26.80
Post Probationary Rate: $27.33
Job Rate: $28.18
