Research Technician
Job Summary
Supports the therapeutic circuit team at the Elowitz Lab by performing routine tasks such as human tissue culture, DNA cloning, plasmid preparation, PCR, and basic lab maintenance. Conducts experiments involving cells, including qPCR, cloning, transfections, flow cytometry, and fluorescence imaging analysis. Participates in planning meetings and assists with general lab operations.
Essential Job Duties
- Cell Culture Maintenance: Perform cell culture passage, maintenance, and cryopreservation techniques for various cell lines, including human stem cells.
- Experimentation and Data Collection: Conduct experiments and collect data using techniques such as flow cytometry, PCR, and fluorescent imaging.
- Experimental Setup and Sample Preparation: Set up experiments, including transfections, and prepare samples for analysis following experiments.
- Meeting Participation and Reporting: Attend planning meetings, provide progress reports, and contribute to project discussions.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science degree in a relevant field.
- Experience in cell culture techniques, especially human stem cells.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques such as qPCR, cloning, transfections, flow cytometry, and fluorescent imaging analysis.
