James Cook University (JCU) is committed to improving health outcomes in regional and rural Queensland. We’re seeking an enthusiastic Rural Student Coordinator to support medical student placements in Moranbah, Dysart and Clermont. 

Based at Moranbah Hospital, you’ll work closely and report through to the JCU Rural Delivery Team Leader (Atherton based) within the College of Medicine and Dentistry. 

About the Role 

You’ll be the key contact for students on placement and coordinate all logistics, communication and site support, including: 

  • Managing rural medical placements across multiple sites 
  • Liaising with students, hospitals, general practices and community partners 
  • Preparing student rosters, arranging access and placement schedules 
  • Delivering student orientation and supporting local community engagement 
  • Monitoring attendance and providing updates to academics/clinicians 

About You 

You can work independently, juggle competing priorities and build strong relationships with health services and community stakeholders. You’ll bring: 

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills 
  • Confidence working in dynamic rural health environments 
  • Digital proficiency (Microsoft Office, Teams/Zoom) 
  • A current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle as travel between sites is required.
