- $87,051 to $95,685 per annum (HEO6)
- Plus 17% employer superannuation

About the role
The QuickSmart Education Officer will oversee on-site the implementation of the QuickSmart Numeracy and Literacy educational programs within Darwin Correction Centre (DCC). Management support and supervision will be provided by the QuickSmart team, headed by the Research Fellow, Social Inclusion, based at UNE at distance and through on-site visits. The QuickSmart team will provide the necessary training.
The QuickSmart Education Officer will facilitate team-teaching delivery to small classes of prisoners. They will deliver QuickSmart instruction themselves and mentor, support and supervise teams of Prisoner Instructors to deliver instruction. They will manage and administer the Programs on-site, including programming and reporting requirements for both DCC and SiMERR and quality assurance measures. In addition, they will liaise with other teams and key personnel involved in education provision in the prison.

About SiMERR National Centre
SiMERR National Centre is situated within the Faculty of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences and Education (HASSE) at the University of New England, ARMIDALE, NSW. SiMERR consists of a team of approx. 20 people including academic staff whose expertise lies in science, mathematics and ICT education and addressing learning difficulties. SiMERR has a significant focus on numeracy and literacy basic skills through its QuickSmart program.
The QuickSmart program comprises a suite of numeracy and literacy interventions designed to meet the diverse needs of at-risk learners, such as underachieving school students in Years 4 to 10, educationally disadvantaged adult learners in correctional centres, apprentices struggling with vocational courses and individuals living in remote communities.
