Description

Provides physical security for a university building. Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.

1. Unlocks and locks doors and checks all floors for unsecured doors.
2. Monitors entry into the building and maintains sign-in/out log.
3. Monitors security cameras and radio traffic; alerts proper personnel of camera malfunctions.
4. Answers the telephone and greets visitors; provides information and directions.
5. Provides immediate contact with the university's police department in case of an emergency; prepares incident reports.
6. May accept parcel packages and deliver them to designated floors or staff.
7. May monitor and control entry into a gated parking lot.
8. Patrols assigned areas to check for criminal activity, rule violations, and irregularities.
9. Performs other job-related duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (MQ)

Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED. No experience is required. Requires a valid Texas Driver's License.

Must be proficient with using a computer and Microsoft office suite. Must pass a Criminal History and valid TX Driver’s License check prior to an interview. While performing this job the staff member shall: Environmental: The employee maybe exposed to inclement weather conditions; extensive public contact with student, faculty and staff. Employees are required to work various assigned shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends and may be required to remain at their post for an additional shift. All staff are “essential personnel” and are required to report to work during inclement weather.
