As a Technical Services Coordinator, you will:
- Coordinate the efficient and safe operation of teaching and research laboratories and equipment, including the management and leadership of a high performing technical support team
- Ensure that equipment, facilities, and materials are used safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively to carry out teaching and research of the highest quality
- Provide guidance, expert advice, and training to all stakeholders using laboratory facilities and marine equipment and technology within the School of Life and Environmental Sciences, including outreach and engagement partners, undertaking research, teaching and project work
- Distil the core issues from complex information and draw accurate conclusions and present logical arguments that address the core issues. Condense complex information and next steps into simple concise terms that others can understand
- Give balanced, constructive feedback that takes in to account individual capability and supports team performance. Ensure team members responsible for implementing work priorities have role clarity, the authority to act and feel empowered and supported to act. Implement strategies to promote positive emotional wellbeing across the team
To be successful, you’ll have:
- A Degree in marine science, marine biology or other relevant discipline with substantial subsequent relevant experience
- Extensive experience and management expertise in technical or administrative fields
- Current work experience in relevant laboratory or field setting
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Experience working within an organisation with complex administrative structures, policies and procedures, preferably within the higher education sector
