Job Description
Under the general direction of the Director/Associate Controller of Financial Reporting, this position has professional responsibilities in collecting, analyzing, interpreting, validating, reconciling, and reporting the College's financial data.
The incumbent applies policies and procedures, performs internal review of ledger account transactions, identify discrepancies, resolve issues, develop job aids, and reports unsolved issues to the Associate Controller.
This position serves as the subject matter expert for People Soft to Workday reconciliations. The incumbent coordinates the completion of the month-end PeopleSoft (PS) adjustment journals for the Controller's Office and provides training to new team members on month-end PS entries. This employee serves as the primary contact with NSHE Workday team to resolve issues related to the integration between PS and Workday.
This position is responsible for the assigned tasks for month-end close, year-end close, and annual audit schedules.
This position will also undertake other tasks assigned, including assisting on special projects and serving on college committees.
This position requires consistent and reliable attendance, some travel to other campuses / work sites and evening and weekend work, particularly during peak accounting and reporting cycles.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field from an accredited college/university; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 years of full-time working experience in accounting, including reconciling, analyzing, and reporting financial data.
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years of working knowledge of fund accounting in higher education.
- Demonstrated experience in research and application of the knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the standards of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) statements or IRS codes.
- One year of full-time work experience with Workday Finance, PeopleSoft, or other RFP systems.
The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and TEAMS.
- Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel.
- Working Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the standards of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
- General knowledge of relevant NSHE Board of Regents policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of the Student Financial module of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions application.
- Working knowledge of College's financial system.
- Ability to research, interpret, and apply internal revenue codes and IRS guidelines.
- Ability to work with a diverse and multicultural workforce.
- Ability to develop PeopleSoft queries to collect, analyze, and report data.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines under strict time constraints.
- Ability to reconcile and research data using Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to perform essential job functions effectively in a virtual work environment.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
Salary information:
Administrative Faculty C - The starting salary is $73,982.
This position is contingent upon ongoing and available funding.
