The Faculty Council of the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb (hereinafter: the PMF), pursuant to Articles 32(1)(19), 73, and 77 of the Faculty Statutes, announces the following:
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
for appointment to the associate position of senior assistant in natural sciences, the field of biology, for a fixed term and on a full-time basis, at the PMF, Department of Biology – 1 person.

Skills/Qualifications
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
The Call is open to applicants of either gender on equal terms.
In addition to the general terms and conditions of employment, applicants applying under any point of the Call must satisfy the requirements set out in the Act on Higher Education and Scientific Activity (Official Gazette No 119/22).
Applicants under either point of the Call must enclose the following with their respective applications:
- CV,
- the relevant diploma or certificate as proof of the required level of academic qualifications;
- proof of citizenship (a photocopy of the certificate of nationality or identity card).
Applicants under point 2 of the Call must satisfy the following conditions:
- a doctorate degree in natural sciences, the field of biology.
Additional conditions:
- experience in computational statistical analyses of multivariate biological data,
- research and teaching experience in biological data analysis within the R programming environment,
- motivation for teaching and research work with a focus on statistical data analysis in biological research,
- scientific publications in the field of biology,
- knowledge and understanding of research design at all levels of biological organization as well as the issues of researching the relationship between the living world and the environment,
The aforementioned additional conditions are proven by enclosing certificates of held classes and/or a list of published scientific papers.
Information for foreign nationals:
Foreign nationals applying under any point of the Call must provide, in addition to the above-listed documents, proof of Croatian language proficiency.
Applicants applying under point 2 of the Call must enclose with their application the evidence of eligibility under the Ordinance on Additional Terms and Conditions for Appointment into the Grades and the Corresponding Positions at the PMF’s Department of Biology, the University of Zagreb.
Applicants applying under any point of the Call who qualify for employment preference under the special regulations should refer to the preference in their application and enclose therewith all evidence as listed in the special regulations governing the priority placement rights, as well as all evidence of eligibility and of absence of any impediment to their exercising of the priority placement rights as stipulated under the special regulations. Such applicants will be given employment preference within this Call over other candidates, under the same terms and conditions of the Call, based on a duly completed, complete and timely application, provided they meet all the terms and conditions of the Call and achieve top results in the selection procedures.

An application shall be deemed duly completed if it contains all the data and the supporting documents in keeping with the Call requirements. Incomplete, disorganised, and late applications shall not be taken into consideration, nor will there be a subsequent invitation to the applicants to amend such applications.
APPLICANT ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE:
The applicants applying under points 1, and 2 who satisfy the formal terms and conditions of the Call may be invited to take part in an interview as part of the selection procedure.
If invited, the applicants will receive an e-mail advising them of the time and place of the interview.
Any applicant who fails to attend the interview at the time and the place as specified in the separate invitation, shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the Call proceedings.
The PMF collects and processes personal data of the applicants taking part in the Call for Applications for positions with the aim of verifying qualifications and eligibility in accordance with the Decision on the Collection, Protection and Processing of Personal Data (CLASSIFICATION No: 035-01/18-01/5; FILE No:251-58-10201-18-2).
The submission deadline for point 2 of the Call is 30 days after publication of the Call in the Official Gazette.
