About the role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Clinical Trial Manager to join the Oxford Vaccine Group, supporting the delivery of a diverse, high-impact portfolio of vaccine and infectious disease clinical trials.
Based within the Oxford Vaccine Group Clinical Trials Unit (OVG CTU), you will provide senior oversight of the management and delivery of clinical trials ranging from Phase 1 through to late-phase and post-licensure studies. This includes trials of Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs), human challenge studies, and experimental medicine research. You will join a team of Senior Clinical Trial Managers and play a key leadership role within a well-established, internationally recognised clinical research environment. This will include direct line management of members of the trial management team.
As Senior Clinical Trial Manager, you will independently manage complex, high-profile clinical trials involving multiple stakeholders, extended timelines, and stringent regulatory requirements. You will also oversee Trial Management Teams in the delivery of research projects within the CTU, ensuring trials are delivered to time, budget, and quality standards, and in full compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and applicable UK and international regulatory frameworks. In addition, you will provide professional leadership within the CTU, contributing to staff development, continuous improvement of systems, and strategic planning across the wider trial management portfolio.
You will be working in a growing department within the Medical Sciences Division. The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in drug development, gastroenterology, haematology, HIV, immunology, neuroimaging, neuromuscular diseases and vaccinology.
This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract initially for 2 years with the possibility to extend provided further external funding is available.
This role meets the criteria for a UK Skilled Worker visa.

About you
You are educated to degree level (or have equivalent experience) in a life science or health-related discipline and have extensive experience managing complex, multi-centre clinical trials, including large-budget studies. You have a proven track record of successfully delivering multiple trials concurrently across different clinical phases, with full operational oversight encompassing regulatory submissions, governance, data storage and archiving, participant recruitment, quality and risk management, sample and endpoint management, contract oversight, and reporting.
You bring strong experience in creating, managing, and presenting trial budgets, including working with external collaborators. You have demonstrated leadership and line management experience, with the ability to motivate and develop multidisciplinary teams. With excellent knowledge of UK and international research governance, ethics, and regulatory frameworks. You combine outstanding organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to consistently high standards of work.
