Advertised Job Summary
With the vision of supporting the values and mission of the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX, the Senior Specialist of Digital Accessibility will promote an inclusive and accessible digital university environment at the University of South Carolina. In partnership with and reporting to the Deputy ADA Coordinator, the Senior Specialist of Digital Accessibility provides strategic leadership for the University of South Carolina’s digital accessibility efforts, including the development of institutional standards, policies, and initiatives.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 4 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters, J.D. or Doctorate in related field; Related training or certification through a nationally recognized organization.
- Experience in higher education ADA digital accessibility compliance; Familiarity with digital accessibility principles and tools (WCAG standards, assistive technologies, and web practices).
- Direct experience and proven success with digital accessibility strategy and remediation.
Job Duties
Digital Accessibility Program Leadership (25%): Leads institutional efforts to promote accessible digital content.
Compliance, Policy, and Strategic Planning (20%): Maintains current knowledge of evolving federal and state regulations.
Education and Training Leadership (20%): Leads the strategy, development and coordination of University-wide training and awareness initiatives.
Complaint Resolution, Response, and Remediation Coordination (20%): Coordinates processes to support the prompt and equitable resolution of digital accessibility complaints.
Assessment, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement (10%): Oversees the evaluation and continuous improvement of University-wide digital accessibility efforts.
