Job Description Summary
The Senior Director for Compliance and Integrity is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and providing general oversight of the University’s compliance assurance activities. This includes ensuring adherence to internal policies and procedures, as well as, external legal, regulatory, contractual, and grant-related requirements. This position provides strategic leadership to maintain an effective institutional compliance program characterized by clear policies, responsive mechanisms, and a pervasive culture of ethics and accountability across the University.
Job Description
The Director leads university-wide coordination of compliance obligations and collaborates with designated compliance officers and administrators throughout all divisions. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing day-to-day operations of the compliance program to promote a strong culture of compliance and ethical behavior.
- Ensuring accessible and effective channels for reporting compliance concerns, including managing the University’s EthicsPoint Hotline/Portal.
- Providing leadership, oversight, and guidance on conflict of interest issues and educating the University community on ethical decision-making and related institutional policies.
- Continuously monitoring and evaluating the performance of the compliance program and implementing improvements as needed.
- Developing, updating, and communicating compliance policies and procedures to ensure relevance and clarity for key stakeholders.
- Collaborating with departments to implement a comprehensive compliance training program for all employees, including onboarding for new hires and ongoing education for managers and staff.
- Establishing and leading a cooperative Compliance Committee that meets regularly to strengthen transparency, coordination, and accountability across all compliance-related functions.
- Ensuring institutional compliance with Federal, State, and internal research regulations by working closely with the Vice President of Research.
- Overseeing policies and procedures related to human subject (IRB), animal care (IACUC), conflicts of interest, responsible conduct of reserach, export controls, and research misconduct.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree AND 10 Years of progressively responsible experience in legal, compliance, audit, or related roles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree AND a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in legal, compliance, audit, or related roles.
- Experience in a university or research-intensive organization.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with federal and state laws and regulations relevent to higher education.

- Demonstrated success in designing, implementing, and improving institutional compliance programs
- Knowledge of Research Compliance

Position may be available for hybrid work within the Tri-State area of Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. Remote out of state or outside the Tri-state area will NOT be available.
