Senior eLearning & Innovation Designer
Job Summary
Incumbents collaborate with subject matter experts and academic and district stakeholders to create engaging, effective, and technologically advanced learning experiences. The role expands on traditional instructional design by applying the latest trends and innovations in digital education to enhance learner engagement, support learning outcomes, and provide the highest-quality student experience.
Essential Functions
- Supervise staff, including prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, coordinating staff training, and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures.
- Collaborate with Instructional Designers, Instructional Technology Specialists, IT personnel, faculty, and administrators on innovative course designs and projects involving multiple systems and educational technologies.
- Work with faculty to improve the quality of instruction and student experience; prepare, update, process, and/or maintain documents, including design process, instructor training documentation, communications files, process calendars, and other documentation and materials.
- Oversee project planning, including processes, timelines, and procedures. Work may involve creating guidelines and procedures to optimize production and deployment processes for courses and programs; monitoring and reporting project status; and managing teams to ensure all operations comply with applicable policies, procedures, and standards.
- Provide technical and conceptual training and presentations districtwide on new and emerging technologies within the realm of education.
- Research, test, employ, and manage new technologies for improving student engagement and success in all modalities.
- Manage design projects, work with district and campus units to ensure compliance with applicable standards and best practices and ensure that projects meet district and legal policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with IT to ensure timely and accurate deployment of projects that align with supported district infrastructure technology and security protocols.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or related area
- Three (3) years of instructional design and/or instructional technology experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or related area
- Teaching experience
- Project management experience
- Team Leadership experience
- Five (5) years combined experience in instructional design and/or instructional technology
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of principles, practices, and theories of pedagogy.
- Knowledge of the latest research involving learning technology and teaching and learning innovation.
- Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of eLearning design
- Knowledge of project management principles
- Knowledge of principles and practices of designing media for the Internet
- Knowledge of principles and applications of critical thinking and analysis
- Knowledge of best practices, trends, and emerging technologies for instruction
- Knowledge of principles and methods of qualitative and quantitative research
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations (based on assignment)
- Skilled in supervising employees
- Skilled in documenting process workflow and preparing training materials
- Skilled in managing projects
- Skilled in assessing needs and identifying solutions
- Skilled in reading, analyzing, evaluating, interpreting, and summarizing written materials and statistical data
- Skilled in researching industry trends, solutions, and best practices
- Skilled in compiling, sorting, and articulating issues and recommendations
- Skilled in gathering data, analyzing findings, and applying logic and reason
- Skilled in interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards (based on assignment)
- Skilled in providing customer service
- Skilled in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others, sufficient to exchange or convey information.
Physical Requirements
Positions in this class typically require feeling, grasping, hearing, keyboarding, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking. The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Incumbents may be exposed to environmental conditions, such as challenging behaviors, imminent danger, and threatening environments.
