Substitute Pool - Online Instructional Design & Accessibility Specialist
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of an administrator in the Office of Academic Affairs, assist in the design and development of online courses and online learning resources; assist with the conversion of face-to-face courses materials for online delivery; review online courses and online learning resources for compliance with accessibility; and assist in modifying online course content and online learning resources to meet accessibility requirements.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Consult with faculty on the strategies for using the College's Course Management System and other online tools to meet instructional objectives and comply with accessibility requirements.
- Advise, assist, and train faculty in the design and development of online courses; redesign course content and integrate media technologies in course content to meet accessibility requirements.
- Assist in the development of online course content, activities, and assessments that meet accessibility requirements.
- Review online course content to ensure compliance with accessibility requirements (i.e. ADA and Section 508). Assist faculty and staff in modifying course content to meet accessibility requirements.
- Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and guidelines for creating accessible online course content.
- Work closely with Access Resource Center (Disabled Students Programs), Online Education Support staff, faculty, staff, and administration to address concerns related to accessibility in online courses and accommodation requirements for online students.
- Assist in the development of accessible online course templates, images/graphics, and video production for use in online courses.
- Conduct training workshops on topics related to the design, delivery, and support of high quality online teaching and learning and topics related to accessibility compliance for online courses.
- Maintain and update online faculty support resources, guidelines for online instruction, and other professional development resources.
- Work in collaboration with the Online Instructional Technology Specialist to provide technical support for online faculty and students.
- Demonstrate an understanding of, sensitivity to and appreciation for, the academic, ethnic, socio-economic, disability and gender diversity of students and staff attending or working on a community college campus.

Qualifications
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualification)
Any combination of education and experience which would indicate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities listed herein. For example, a bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology, Web/Multimedia design, Educational Technology, certificates, or related field. Experience teaching online courses, providing academic support services (such as advising, tutoring, or library services) to online students, or providing instructional design/technology support to faculty. A working knowledge of web development, web standards, and accessibility requirements (i.e. ADA, Section 508). Previous experience with one or more learning management systems. (Canvas preferred).
Knowledge
Knowledge of: instructional design, web/graphic design, educational technology, educational practices, K-12, Community College, Adult Education, and/or University educational policies and practices; report writing; presentation skills; current office procedures and practices including filing systems; a variety of multimedia design, computer graphics, video production, word processing, spreadsheet and/or database programs as needed to fulfill the requirements of the job.

Ability to: learn and apply Federal, State, regional and District regulations, policies, and procedures; understand and independently carry out oral and written instructions; prioritize tasks and manage several tasks simultaneously; accurately and efficiently use a variety of word processing, spreadsheet and/or database programs to create/produce online text and multimedia content as needed to fulfill the requirements of the job; learn and successfully use new software programs as required to fulfill the duties of the job; use appropriate and correct English spelling, grammar, and punctuation; perform arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy; learn and successfully apply current office policies and procedures; analyze situations and make decisions on procedural matters without immediate supervision; communicate effectively in both oral and written form; efficiently use a variety of office equipment as needed to fulfill the needs of the job; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties; demonstrate an understanding of, sensitivity to and appreciation for, the academic, ethnic, socio-economic, disability and gender diversity of students and staff attending or working on a community college campus.
PHYSICAL EFFORT/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Light to moderate physical effort; occasional standing or walking; periodic handling of parcels, supplies or equipment up to 15 pounds.
WORK SCHEDULE
40 hours per week for up to 6 months, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Starting Salary
$30.77 (STEP A) - 33.99 (STEP C) + GREAT BENEFITS PACKAGE (no additional costs for dependents)
