Overview
The Schoop Lab is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Laboratory Research Assistant specializing in inorganic material synthesis and characterization. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research in the synthesis of quantum materials, their characterization, and analysis of their properties. The primary responsibilities include synthesizing Crystalline inorganic compound, their characterization with x-ray diffraction and spectroscopic methods, as well as analysis of their magnetic and electronic properties.
Hourly rate is $26.07 per hour for 40 hours per week. Position term until 7/1/26.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conducting chemical synthesis of crystalline inorganic compounds in powder and single crystalline form
- Performing x-ray diffraction experiments and data analyzation
- Analyzing EDX and XPS spectra to ensure the quality and purity of synthesized compounds
- Conducting magnetic and transport measurements on synthesized samples
- Collaborating with team members to design and optimize experimental protocols
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Chemistry, Physcis, or related field
- Previous laboratory research experience, especially with labs focusing on solid state chemistry or condensed matter physics
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Ability to problem-solve and maintain an outstanding level of confidentiality and professionalism.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and deadline-driven.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, prioritize, and work independently.
