Senior Lecturer or Senior Teaching Fellow in Clinical Pharmacy

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today.

The School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences is at the forefront of higher education in Pharmacy as well as Pharmaceutical, Biomedical, Forensic, Cosmetic and Chemical Sciences. The School has excellent working relationships with industry, regulatory bodies and the NHS and has recently achieved the Athena Swan bronze award.

We have recently refurbished our clinical teaching suites and have built a new 6-bed simulated hospital ward to expand our clinical teaching facilities, and are looking to grow our team commensurately. We are looking for a highly professional, enthusiastic, and committed individual to join us. Our MPharm Programme has recently received full accreditation from GPhC for 6 years, and has excellent scores in the National Student Survey. We are seeking GPhC-registered pharmacists (or other UK-registered healthcare professionals with experience in clinical practice) and ideally experience of medical simulation and/or inter-professional education.

You will have a degree (or equivalent) in pharmacy or related clinical discipline and ideally an independent prescriber qualification. You will also have substantial teaching experience in clinical pharmacy-related areas, within the MPharm programme and postgraduate Independent Prescribing. Experience in developing, delivering, and assessing activities related to experiential learning as well as supervision of pharmacy students on placements would be advantageous.

You will be expected to make significant contributions to the Master of Pharmacy programme and pharmacy related postgraduate programmes, as well as other undergraduate and postgraduate programmes appropriate to your expertise. You will also be expected to actively engage in the development of new undergraduate and post-graduate programmes in relation to your discipline.

In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction, and development support as well as family-friendly policies.

This is an exciting time to join the university as we deliver the LJMU Strategy 2030 and its vision of LJMU as an inclusive civic university transforming lives and futures, by placing students at the heart of everything we do.

If you feel that this is the role you have been looking for and your skills and experience can make a real difference at LJMU, we look forward to hearing from you.

Informal enquiries may be made to Professor Satya Sarker, Director of School, Tel: 0151 231 2096; e-mail: S.Sarker@ljmu.ac.uk or Professor Peter Penson: Professor of Pharmacy Practice & Head of Subject (Pharmacy) on 0151 231 2071 or email: P.Penson@ljmu.ac.uk

LJMU is an equal opportunities employer and welcome applicants from all background and communities irrespective of age, transgender status, disability, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity and religion or belief. All our appointments are made on merit.
