What will you be doing in this role?

The Senior Medical Assistant is responsible for positive patient relations, proper telephone communication, verification of patient information, preparing patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests, and handling appointment scheduling and patient demographics.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greets patients, takes appropriate vital signs, reviews current medications and records in medical record.
  • Coordinates communication between patients, family members, medical staff, administrative staff, and other departments.
  • Manages patient care flow and assists with monitoring message pools.
  • Monitors workflow independently.
  • Assists with tracking and monitoring department-specific data.
  • Explains policies, procedures, or services to patients.
  • Sets up exam rooms and cleans equipment.
  • Addresses concerns and resolves problems.
  • May lead daily huddles and staff meetings.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant educational program and/or Medical Assistant Certification from Board approved Medical Assistant Organization.

Experience:

  • 3 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinical/medical office setting required.
  • 5 years of experience preferred.

Licenses/Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
  • Medical Assistant certification and/or diploma required.
