Senior Policy Analyst, Penn Wharton Budget Model

The Penn Wharton Budget Model (PWBM) is a non-partisan, research-based initiative that provides analysis to policymakers to assess the effects of policy on budgetary outcomes and various economic variables. PWBM's work is widely cited and has been influential in key policy discussions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Serve as a public policy topic-area expert, providing research expertise for policymaker requests both qualitatively and quantitatively.
• Analyze PWBM model output, prepare written summaries, and communicate results to stakeholders.
• Assist with development and maintenance of PWBM's policy models, incorporating data and staying abreast of legislative changes.
• Contribute to data processing, statistical modeling, and policy analysis using programming skills.
• Support outreach, communications, and education efforts with policymakers.
• Apply communication skills and policy expertise to business development and social media outreach.
• Serve as a liaison between policymakers and PWBM staff for analyses.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree is required (preferably in Economics or related field); a master's degree is strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in policy analysis or economic research.
• Demonstrated interest in public policy and economics.
• Advanced statistical programming skills (e.g., Python or R) and proficiency with data analysis tools.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
• Subject matter expertise in areas like health policy, retirement policy, etc., is preferred.

This is a two-year position subject to renewal and contingent upon funding. Hybrid work schedule eligible.
