Sessional Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream (5 positions) - School of Nursing

The School of Nursing in the Faculty of Health at York University invites highly qualified applicants for five (5) Sessional Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream positions in the areas below. These are open Contractually Limited Appointments (CLA) to the teaching stream for three-year terms to commence either July 1, 2026 or January 1, 2027.

The School of Nursing is committed to the pursuit of health for all through nursing excellence in nursing practice, research, education. Our internationally recognized programs offer innovative curricula founded in nursing science and social justice. The successful candidates will demonstrate knowledge of theoretical and evidence-based/informed practice, clinical expertise, and 2-5 years recent experience in nursing education and/or practice relevant to one of the following or other priority areas:

• Nurse Practitioner education
• Adult acute care and medical-surgical nursing
• Pediatric acute care and medical-surgical nursing
• Pathology and pharmacology
• Indigenous health and culturally safe care
• Geriatric/older adult health

Candidate Qualifications:

• Degree: Master’s degree in Nursing is required. Individuals with a PhD, DNP, or PhD or DNP in progress in Nursing or a related field (i.e. Public Health, Education) are preferred. Candidates must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario by the beginning of the appointment.
• Teaching:
  • A record or evident promise of excellence in teaching and dedication to students. The successful candidate will demonstrate skillful experience in university level classroom teaching nursing courses with undergraduate BScN students demonstrating knowledge of appropriate learning theory, innovative teaching methodologies and a commitment to ethics, equity, diversity, inclusivity and decolonization (EDID) in their teaching.
  • The successful candidates will be expected to coordinate students supervised by clinical course directors in practice settings and will integrate a variety of learning measures in high priority areas such as experiential education, technology enhanced learning, community-based learning, and/or preparation for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
  • The successful candidates will also demonstrate: 1) a strong commitment to pedagogy and student success, 2) the capacity to bring a theoretical and practical orientation to teaching, learning and program design in relation to area of expertise and 3) a reflective approach to innovation in teaching.
• Additional: Experience with curriculum development and universal design approaches to teaching and assessment is preferred.

Hiring Policies:

• The anticipated starting salary for this position at the rank of Sessional Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream and commensurate with qualifications and experience, is in the range of $115,000 to $130,000.
