SHOULDER/ELBOW ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEON (ACADEMIC POSITION)
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, is recruiting for an orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty expertise in shoulder and elbow surgery. The practice will provide diagnostic, interventional, and surgical management for patients with a variety of upper extremity sports-related conditions, with an emphasis on complex shoulder and elbow procedures. The selected candidate will be expected to provide high-quality clinical care, teach clinically relevant topics to residents, fellows, and medical students, and participate in university service. Both didactic and bedside teaching are required. We are seeking applicants with a strong interest in clinical and translational research, and an interest in growing a busy shoulder and shoulder arthroplasty practice.
Practice locations can include: UCSF Orthopaedic Institute at Mission Bay, UCSF Redwood Shores, UCSF San Mateo, UCSF Marin Health, UCSF East Bay Surgery Center, and additional Bay Area practice sites based on department needs.
Requirements: A valid California medical license will be required as a condition of employment; Board certified or eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery; Completion of an accredited Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program; Completion of a Shoulder & Elbow Fellowship Program; For Associate level, evidence of academic teaching and publication record; Applicant's materials must list (pending) qualifications upon submission.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay, determined by academic rank and step at the time of appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary for this position is $154,700. This position is governed by the UC Health Sciences Compensation Plan, APM-670 (https://ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf), which allows for eligibility for negotiated additional compensation. As such, the total negotiated salary (including base and negotiated components) can be significantly higher and can range up to $900,000, depending on individual qualifications, clinical productivity, and other factors assessed at the time of offer.
