SIS Functional Analyst

Job Summary

The SIS Functional Analyst will lead process improvement efforts to enhance student engagement, retention, progression, and graduation by developing and improving a technology-enabled student engagement network and utilizing numerous software platforms (StarRez, Medicat, Presence, etc.) to guide data-informed interventions and to drive measurable results in student success. The Analyst guides 11 departments within two units of the Division of Enrollment & Student Affairs (the Belonging and Dean of Students units), by implementing and improving processes, products, services, and software through technological analysis. The Analyst is supported by associated constituents in Information Technology (ITS) and software/service vendors, serving as the key interface between the users of technologies/processes and office leadership.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

  • SERVE AS PRIMARY ADMINISTRATOR: Manage all aspects of the platforms related to user roles, campaigns, and other features that enhance communication and student buy-in. Provide business analysis (i.e., cost-benefit analysis, documentation, technological capabilities), workflow design, and functional support of the systems that enhance access to student information, streamline processes, and improve delivery of services to all stakeholders. Define and document business requirements and perform workflow design and training to maximize the investment in these systems. Provide leadership and direction to departments on the successful integration of campus platforms into strategic daily operations. Design, develop, maintain, and deliver reports through the available system to the departments. Partner with IT and Data Analysts in creating support specifications that are best developed within their expertise.
  • CAMPUS COLLABORATION AND TECHNOLOGY-DRIVEN ENGAGEMENT STRATEGIES: Work collaboratively with campus stakeholders to drive coordination for technology-enabled interventions to increase student engagement. Provide necessary systems training, workflow analysis, and best practice examples to promote timely student engagement. Evaluate current processes and recommend appropriate strategies and resources necessary to achieve increased systems utilization and efficiency. Encourage and develop collaborative efforts with departments and programs across campus to build a unified community of support that is coherent, visible, and accessible, and creates a sense of belonging for students.
  • TECHNOLOGY ADVANCEMENT AND SOLUTIONS DEVELOPMENT FOR ENGAGEMENT: Develop ways in which systems and technologies can be used to their fullest potential to meet the ever-changing technology-oriented needs of student engagement. Assist in finding solutions through these technologies for problems as they are encountered, as well as being proactive in new development.
  • DATA-INFORMED PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND STUDENT SUCCESS ENHANCEMENT: Collaborate with Data Analysts to examine assessment and outcomes data to enhance and develop programs and services that are responsive to student needs, increase retention, persistence, and completion. Serve as the AVP’s delegate Data Steward as it pertains to their managed systems and platforms, and uphold data governance policies and procedures.
  • STRATEGIC COORDINATION AND TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION FOR STUDENT ENGAGEMENT: Optimize strategic priorities and commitments for the division by working closely with the AVP for Access Success and Belonging, and the AVP and Dean of Students to assist department leaders in monitoring, tracking, and providing support for ongoing student engagement initiatives utilizing student affairs management technologies. Coordinate software implementation, maintenance, and upgrades with Information Technology (testing, data conversion, data cleanup, user acceptance testing, and training).
  • OTHER: Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with three years of experience in a higher education setting, and experience with a student information system.

Preferred Qualifications

Excellent interpersonal, organizing/planning skills, and communication skills. Comprehensive knowledge of Registrar processes from enrollment to graduation. Experience in planning, documenting and implementing processes. Familiarity with FERPA.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Knowledge of the principles, policies and techniques of educational administration. Thorough knowledge of University policies and procedures related to AU. Thorough knowledge of USG rules and regulations. Knowledge of integrated information systems. Experience with student information systems.
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills. Strong problem-solving skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to plan and coordinate work independently. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to develop processes and utilize technology to increase efficiency.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; M-F (Work outside of the standard business hours may be required)
Pay Band: B12
Salary: $62,300/annually-$79,400/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
