"Sociology Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool)"

Ohlone College is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for temporary part-time teaching assignments in Sociology. Assignments may include day, evening, and weekend courses, and may be in-person, online, or hybrid.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach Sociology in accordance with post-secondary level established course outlines.
• Evaluate student work using clear criteria relevant to the course content and student learning outcomes, and provide feedback to students in a timely manner.
• Maintain and submit accurate records according to published deadlines (i.e., grades, syllabi, attendance reports).
• Create an equity-based and welcoming classroom environment.
• Perform duties described in Board policy, the United Faculty of Ohlone contract, the Faculty Handbook, and as assigned at the Fremont Campus, Newark Center, online via the eCampus, and/or other designated locations.
• Candidate will be required to teach in-person courses, including at high school locations as part of the college's dual enrollment program.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's in sociology; OR Bachelor's in sociology AND Master's in anthropology, any ethnic studies, social work, or psychology; OR the equivalent. Desirable Qualifications:

• Teaching experience at the community college level.
• Experience in using innovative teaching methods that encourage student engagement and learning.
• Experience creating socially conscious syllabi, equitable classroom materials, and inclusive pedagogical practices.
• Experience addressing issues of equity and working with minoritized students.
• Experience in the use of computer technology as a teaching tool, including course management systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
