University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach remotely for the Computer & Information Science program. Specifically, the following course(s).

Software Engineering Capstone (670):

A comprehensive examination of the tools, skills, and techniques of software engineering and their application. Completion of a major team project is designed to integrate knowledge and skills gained through previous study and provide experience of the constraints commonly experienced in industry (scheduling, vagueness of clients). Project requires forming teams (organization) and scheduling work to meet the deadlines imposed by the contract (syllabus).

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Ability to guide graduate-level software engineering projects using modern practices, including AI-assisted tools, cloud architectures, agile teamwork, accessibility-compliant UI/UX, professional documentation, and experience with key project artifacts such as planning, requirements, design, testing, deployment, and user guides.
  • Proficiency in modern software development technologies and tools, including code repositories, databases, analytics platforms, cloud services, UI/UX design and implementation principles, and accessibility standards.
  • Prior experience as a technical lead, scrum master, or product manager; industry experience in AI-enabled software development, UI design, accessibility engineering, or full-stack development is desirable.
  • Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred.
  • This position is specifically to teach remotely.

  • Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments.
  • Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
  • Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements.

Assistant Adjunct Professor: No Terminal Degree Step 1 $877 - Step 11 $1,127 per credit hour
Assistant Adjunct Professor: Terminal Degree Step 1 $1,023 - Step 11 $1,288 per credit hour
Associate Adjunct Professor: No Terminal Degree Step 1 $947 - Step 11 $1,205 per credit hour
Associate Adjunct Professor: Terminal Degree Step 1 $1,202 - Step 11 $1,483 per credit hour
Adjunct Professor: No Terminal Degree Step 1 $1,023 - Step 11 $1,288 per credit hour
Adjunct Professor: Terminal Degree Step 1 $1,347 - Step 11 $1,645 per credit hour
