Special Education Faculty
Job Details
Northwestern College invites applications for a full-time faculty position (open rank, tenure eligible, dependent on qualifications) in our education department, beginning in August 2026. We seek candidates in the special education field to teach courses such as Diagnostic Assessment, Methods for Students with Mild to Moderate Disabilities, and elementary methods courses. The teaching load for this position is 24 credit hours per academic year (four or five classes each semester) along with expectations for scholarship and service. This is a face to face, on-campus position, but there may be some online instruction as well.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must hold a graduate degree in special education or a related content area. They must hold a current teaching certificate with a special education endorsement and have had significant classroom experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Hiring preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience in higher education and with progress towards or completion of a special-education-aligned terminal degree in education (Ed.D., Ph.D.). The department offers elementary endorsements in reading, early childhood, instructional strategist I, TESL, birth-grade 3 inclusive, and middle school. The preferred candidate could teach in multiple areas.
