Special Education Lecturer
Position Summary
The School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a Lecturer in Special Education. The main responsibility for this position will be teaching undergraduate special education related courses to future teachers.
This is a full-time benefit eligible position with an anticipated start date of August 2026. The salary for this position is $45,000 - $48,000 per academic year, commensurate with experience, education, and field of study.
Key Job Responsibilities
The primary responsibility will be teaching a variety of undergraduate courses within the special education minor such as historical & current topics in special education, positive classroom environments, methods in literacy & language instruction for students with disabilities, and strategies for effective inclusion & collaboration along with the introduction to special education course for all education majors. The typical teaching load is 15 credits per semester.
Additional Duties Include:
- Utilize current best practices in teacher education to support undergraduate student learning in the classroom.
- Complete course embedded assessments of program student learning outcomes.
- Effectively interact and collaborate with faculty and staff colleagues within the School of Education, across campus, and in partner PK-12 schools to complete program tasks and goals.
- Complete relevant trainings related to teaching.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field.
- At least one-year full-time special education related teaching experience within a K-12 school setting.
- A strong commitment to undergraduate education for pre-service teachers.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with colleagues from the School of Education, across campus, and partner K-12 schools.
