Special Events Coordinator

Job Summary

Plan, organize, coordinate, promote and execute special events for Augusta University partners. Serve as a resource for the AU Campus community advising on protocol and educating internal and external partners regarding event standards, protocols, and etiquette.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, promotes oversees, and/or facilitates special events for the enterprise.
  • Works in collaborations with external and internal partners to develop new events while maintaining, organizing and facilitating existing projects from concept to completion.
  • Uses enterprise and community knowledge to assist customers in effectively developing event concepts, timelines, budgets, logistics schedules and securing venues.
  • Establishes, fosters and maintains cooperative and professional relationships with sponsors, vendors, and other internal and external partners to ensure the enterprise is well represented.
  • Continually seeks out opportunities to further professional and personal growth in areas that would be of benefit to the enterprise.
  • Develop protocols for all events held both on and off campus.
  • Educate Internal and external partners regarding protocol, event standards, etiquette and related issues to enhance partnerships and improved special event outcomes.
  • Develop effective curriculum, deliver training and serve as a resource for Internal partners who are responsible for meetings and events within their department.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 5 years experience in event planning.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree, from an accredited college or university

Preferred Experience
Event planning, public relations, marketing principles and practices and fundraising experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE
Ideal candidate must be one who can envision an event from concept to completion based on the client's needs. Must have a deep understanding of event psychology color, item placement, seating, etc. and the importance of the event experience for all involved. Must be able to effectively communicate the standard set by the enterprise and assist others in developing a plan that is in line with that standard. Must be able to effectively produce events, while remaining fiscally responsible of Enterprise resources.

SKILLS
Candidate is responsible for developing, maintaining and facilitating relationships between internal and external partners. Must be skilled at communicating with senior leadership; faculty, staff, volunteers and others both in writing and during personal interactions. When conducting trainings, the creation of a friendly, safe environment for learning will be key in developing lasting relationships with trainees. Trainer will be available to act as a resource when necessary. The need for confidentiality is paramount.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)
Pay Band: B9
Salary Range: $48,800/annually - $58,240/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
Recruitment Period: 3/11/26 - Until Filled
