Position Highlights
The Department of Geosciences invites applications for the temporary position of Special Instructor. The Special Instructor supports the field component of GEOS/MNE 504B, Advanced Mapping of Ore Deposits.
Duties of this position will include helping manage logistics, instruction while in the field, selected grading of field-based projects (due by mid-October), and participation in related online discussions (only through the first half of the semester). Flexibility in scheduling is required.

Duties & Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide logistical support for the 12-day period when UA participants are in the field plus preparation of teaching materials and equipment ahead of time, and subsequent organization and storage of materials following the field trip. Help with managing materials while in the field and assist the program coordinator with her logistical needs (managing food, accommodations, etc.).
- Provide instructional support while in the field including but not limited to selected presentations, working with students individually and in groups, and providing broader support during mapping exercises.
- Provide grading support and guidance during completion of the field-based projects once back in Tucson (up to completion of this component of the course in October).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Skill with Anaconda method for ore deposit mapping is essential.
- Knowledge through thesis or participated twice in courses with Anaconda mapping the contents of 504B.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology or related field.
