Specialist - Advisor-Fixed Term
Position Summary
- Coordinate with the FMI Academic Director, FMI Advisory Board, and college administration to regularly evaluate and set the strategic direction of the institute, based on changing industry trends, student interests, and other relevant factors. Share responsibility with the FMI Academic Director in implementing strategic changes.
- Build a pipeline of students interested in the FMI by engaging with college and high school students, MSU admissions advisors, Honors College and Broad College academic and career advisors, college faculty and staff, MSU alums, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Manage the scholar application process and procedures, including marketing the opportunity, evaluating applicants, and coordinating orientation for selected candidates.
- Augment the professional development of FMI scholars to include career advising within financial services, resume reviews, mock interviews, job offer selection, support for scholarships and industry events, and references for campus-based and industry employment.
- Organize financial money center trips, engage with financial services alumni on campus, and encourage scholar participation in financial services competitions, among other initiatives.
- Handle all institute promotional activities, including website content creation and maintenance, as well as engagement with the Broad College Marketing & Communications team to advance FMI activities and achievements.
- Engage with financial services alumni, including former scholars, who serve as resources for job searches, business development opportunities, and the alumni-scholar mentoring program.
- Serve as the primary resource for the FMI Advisory Board, including bylaw creation, new member pipeline-building, cultivation of current members, board meeting management, etc.
- Collaborate with Broad College Development and Alumni Relations on fundraising efforts for program endowments, actively engage alumni to foster long-term support, and steward all donors through meaningful communication, recognition, and impact reporting.
- Manage all financial matters of the institute, including budgeting, contracts, scholarships, and bill payments.
- Participate in college-wide and university committees, as well as campus activities, as an ambassador for the institute and college.
