Position Highlights

The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix (COM-P) is hiring a Coordinator of Primary Care Pathways Programs and Research for a 12-month period.

This grant-funded position will report to the Associate Dean, Community Engagement. The Primary Care Pathway Programs and Research Coordinator will support the Office of Rural and Community Engagement at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix in the development and delivery of programs to enhance primary care pathway programs, as well as research investigating pathway programs and the primary care physician workforce in the State of Arizona. The Coordinator will support day-to-day administrative operations, office management, and the planning and coordination of events and programs. This position offers an opportunity to gain professional experience in higher education administration, leadership engagement, community-oriented research, and project management while contributing to the mission and goals of the Office of Rural and Community Engagement at the College of Medicine - Phoenix.

The coordinator is expected to be willing to travel outside Phoenix, as needed, and also have the flexibility to occasionally support programs held during evening hours or weekends.

  • This is an Extended Temporary (ETE) position with a 1-year duration from the start date.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the planning and delivery of the COM-P Community Medicine and Population Health Internship Program, including recruiting, facilitating interviews, onboarding, and guiding interns.
  • Apply program design principles and refine pathway programs in rural, tribal and urban sites connecting students with primary care mentors to increase interest in Community Medicine.
  • Recommends improvements to program design, implementation, and delivery.
  • Coordinate research activities related to Primary Care Pathways and primary care workforce in Arizona, including study team coordination, IRB submission, data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings for medical students, residents, fellows and faculty.
  • Provide administrative support to the Office of Rural and Community Engagement, including coordinating event scheduling and execution, developing and disseminating promotional materials and stakeholder communications, documents, and website content.
  • Support staff and leadership with correspondence, record keeping, and tracking of projects and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of the department.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Arizona geography and communities.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to work effectively with staff, faculty, and leadership.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and willingness to learn new software tools.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • Bilingual English & Spanish.
  • Experience in community-oriented research and/or community engagement and outreach.
  • Experience with research in Pathway programs and mentorship.
  • Experience with Softr, RedCap, and MailChimp.
  • Experience with IRB submission and protocols.
