FLSA Status: Exempt = not eligible for overtime

Work Schedule: Traditionally Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend work required.

One position is available with the potential to be filled at any of the listed levels consistent with the selected applicant's experience. Levels include: Staff Accountant, Senior Accountant or Manager of Accounting Services-Foundation.

Salary: Targeted Salary Ranges: Staff Accountant: $45,920-$51,660; Senior Accountant: $55,360-$62,280; Manager-Accounting Services-Foundation: $67,760-$76,200

Travel: Less than 10%

Brief Statement of Duties

Staff Accountant: Assist in refining operating procedures and computerized systems for financial reporting. Monitor, review, and document University financial transactions for compliance with University policies. Assist with preparation of the University's financial statements.

Senior Accountant: Plan, develop and refine operating procedures and computerized systems for financial reporting. Monitor, review and document University financial transactions for compliance with accounting principles, University policies, federal circulars and Internal Revenue Service rules and regulations. Prepare and/or assist with preparation of many of the University's financial statements, income tax return, revenue projections of University endowments and expenditure projections for special projects.

Manager-Accounting Services-Foundation: Manage financial functions involved in Foundation operations including accounting, budgeting, gift recording, and investment administration. Plan, develop and refine operating procedures and computerized systems for financial reporting. Monitor, review and document Foundation financial transactions for compliance with accounting principles, University or Foundation policies, federal circulars and Internal Revenue Service rules and regulations. Prepare the Foundation's financial statements, income tax return, revenue projections of Foundation endowments and expenditure projections for special projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Discipline/Degree Area: Accounting

Required Minimum Work Experience:

• Staff Accountant: One year or the equivalent work experience in accounting or auditing.
• Senior Accountant: Three years' experience in accounting, auditing or other fiscal management.
• Manager of Accounting Services-Foundation: Five years' recent, progressive, relevant work experience in accounting, auditing or other fiscal management.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required:

• Staff Accountant: Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Possess computer software skills. Knowledge of accounting principles. Possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate others. Ability to make complicated computations accurately and quickly. Responsibility for updating computerized general ledger accounting systems through proposed adjusting entries.
• Senior Accountant and Manager of Accounting Services-Foundation: Current knowledge of accounting practices and principles. Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work. Oral and written communication and comprehension skills. Ability to work effectively within a team-based environment. Computer and software application skills.
• Senior Accountant: Current knowledge of tax laws.
• Manager of Accounting Services-Foundation: Demonstrated appropriate level of understanding of confidentiality and compliance with financial data across separate entities.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

• Senior Accountant: Higher education fund accounting seminars and workshops. Experience in financial accounting for federal, state, and local grants. Certified Fiscal Research Administrator or comparable certification.
• Manager of Accounting Services-Foundation: Higher education fund accounting/nonprofit foundation experience. Current knowledge of tax regulations.
• Senior Accountant and Manager of Accounting Services-Foundation: Master's Degree in Business and/or CPA certificate.
