Staff Nurse
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Staff Nurse for the department of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
This Registered Nurse role combines traditional nursing functions with specialized training in the management of cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs). Working collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other members of the healthcare team, the Staff Nurse ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality care for patients with implanted cardiac devices. Responsibilities include device interrogation, troubleshooting, patient education, and ongoing care coordination, while also supporting the overall goals of the Division of Cardiology.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Performs interrogation, interpretation, and re-programming of cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) in person, remotely, and/or via phone transmission.
- Conducts initial device analysis, generates preliminary reports, and alerts physicians or non-physician practitioners to urgent issues requiring further attention.
- Troubleshoots critical device issues and takes immediate steps toward resolution.
- Collaborate with physicians regarding device status and accurately document all device analyses in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Educate patients on device function, remote monitoring processes, and follow-up protocols.
- Ensures accurate charge capture for device interrogations.
