Staff Optometrist - Ophthalmology

Position Summary

Responsible for evaluating and treating pediatric patients within the WashU Children's Eye Center.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates and treats pediatric patients, including: refractive exams; contact lens fitting and dispensing; emergency exams; evaluation and management of medical diseases of the eye.
  • Assists in Ophthalmologist's clinics alongside Orthoptist.
  • Discusses and interprets findings with patients and suggests appropriate remedies.
  • Adheres to established compliance guidelines to include those governing the appropriate coding of patient services and diagnoses.
  • Adheres to established quality, safety, and hazardous material procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Ophthalmology.

Education:

O.D. - Doctor Of Optometry - Optometry

Certifications/Professional Licenses:

Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Red Cross, Optometrist - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Optometrist - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
