Job Description
Standardized Patients are trained to accurately and consistently recreate the history, personality, physical findings, and emotional structure and response pattern of an actual patient; assess/document learner performance; provide individualized feedback on clinical and interpersonal skills; and represent patient satisfaction. An SP will role-play being interviewed and physically examined by learners or health professionals.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include simulating a patient case and instructing and assessing health providers at multiple levels (undergraduate, postgraduate, and practicing providers) in clinical and communication skills. This may include instructions on correct physical examination techniques. Additional responsibilities include responding to email messages promptly, demonstrating professional behavior and accountability for actions, working as a team, and keeping commitments to the SP Program.
Major Duties/Critical Tasks:
- Simulate all aspects of the patient scenario, including the history of the current problem, affect/behavior, and physical findings in a standardized, accurate, and reliable manner.
- Teach and assess the clinical skills of medical students and other learners.
- Accurately and consistently document the skills of learners using a computer.
- Provide constructive feedback to learners.
- Monitor other Standardized Patients for quality assurance.
- Accept ongoing feedback from the supervisor and incorporate that feedback into the case simulation.

- Ability to recall an encounter accurately for the completion of checklists and written materials during practice sessions and assessments, which result in learner grades.
- Ability to be well organized in all work aspects.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and work independently.
- Lack of bias towards the healthcare system.
- Punctuality and reliability in attendance.
- Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations.
- Comfort with their own body and examinations by health personnel.
- Basic computer skills for email communication, document printing, and checklist documentation.
- Must have a computer and Zoom experience.
Additional Information
The successful Candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
