Job Summary
This position serves as a patient actor for nursing training simulations. The standardized participant (or student actor) portrays the role of a real patients and/or family members including signs and symptoms of disease, emotions etc. during simulation experiences for undergraduate nursing students. Standardized patients will have the opportunity to participate in feedback for students involved in simulation.
Essential Duties
- Attend orientation and training.
- Remain in good academic and professional standing to retain position.
- Support application of standards-based nursing practice.
- Maintain simulation lab environment for effective learning.
- Follow infection control guidelines.
- Communicate with faculty regarding student performance. Comply with Nursing Student Handbook and Simulation Lab Policies
- Comply with assigned work schedule; Timely notification of changes to Nursing Simulation Lab Director (NSLD).
- Accurately maintain time sheets according to the Payroll Policy
- Ensure effective and efficient use of supplies and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Nursing Simulation Lab Director (NSLD).
Required Qualifications
- MWSU Student
- Degree Seeking
- At least an overall 2.0 GPA
- Enrolled at least part-time

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Dependable
- Ability to read a case overview and portray patient/family members
- Healthcare experience
- Acting abilities
- Punctual
Physical Demands
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
