String Music Education Faculty Adjunct Pool
The School of Music in the College of Fine Arts occasionally has openings for part-time temporary adjunct instructors in string music education. Applying for a part-time teaching appointment in music would add the applicant to a pool which is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case the need arises.
Minimum qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or higher in Music Education or Music, with teacher certification (current or previous)
- Primary instrument/high performance skill on a string instrument (violin, viola, cello, or bass).
- Three years of successful EC-12 music teaching experience in strings/orchestra classes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least five years of successful EC-12 music teaching experience
- Expertise in traditional and contemporary approaches to strings teaching
- Experience mentoring preservice teachers and/or student teacher supervision.
- Successful teaching experience at the College/University level
Essential Functions:
- Teach undergraduate courses in string techniques for instrumental music education and composition majors.
- Teach Junior-level Instrumental Methods and Materials (strings) course.
- Mentor preservice teachers in preparation for and during student teaching.
