Job Summary
This position ensures the safety of patrons of the Middle Georgia State University aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies, during the months of pool operation.
Responsibilities
- Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility, acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
- Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
- Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by head lifeguard or Director.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a current enrolled Middle Georgia State University Student
- Must be enrolled in 6 or more semester hours per semester
- Must have a GPA of 2.0 or greater
- This position requires certification as a lifeguard by the American Red Cross within 30 days of hire
- Must have American Red Cross CPR and AED certification within 30 days of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- This position requires certification as a lifeguard by the American Red Cross within 30 days of hire
- Knowledge of university rules and procedures.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
- Skill in the application of lifeguard surveillance and rescue techniques
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the department
- Ability to competently complete related logs and paperwork
- High quality customer service skill
