Student Disability and Neuroinclusion Coordinator
The University of Surrey is a global community of ideas and people, dedicated to life-changing education and research.
We are ambitious and have a bold vision of what we want to achieve - shaping ourselves into one of the best universities in the world, which we are achieving through the talents and endeavour of every employee.
Our culture empowers people to achieve this aim and to collectively, and individually, make a real difference.
The role
The Disability and Neuroinclusion team is looking to recruit a full-time Student Disability and Neuroinclusion Coordinator who will assist the Student Disability and Neuroinclusion Senior Practitioner in supporting disabled students to enhance their student experience and facilitate their academic progression. This is a fixed-term position until 13/02/2027.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently with disabled students, and, alongside their fellow Student Disability and Neuroinclusion Coordinator, will run the student drop-in service. Under the guidance of the Student Disability and Neuroinclusion Senior Practitioner they will assess evidence to determine its suitability to be used to apply for external funding, including Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA), and assist the students with this process. They will have particular responsibility for recruiting and managing our team of note takers in addition to contributing to our events and awareness raising initiatives. The successful candidate can work flexibly, sometimes outside of core hours and across the year. Due to the in-person nature of this role, it is a campus-based position.
About you
Experience of working with disabled students and their reasonable adjustments, knowledge of key legislative requirements, a high degree of IT capability, and excellent communication skills are all essential criteria for the successful candidate.
Appointment is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
How to apply
To apply, please upload a CV and a cover letter that outlines your experience of supporting disabled students in a higher education or similar setting, and your competency with administrative tasks. Please provide examples of your innovation in support of disabled people, and of coordinating support for disabled people.
