Job Description:
SUNY Broome Community College is seeking a part-time, Student Records Specialist to join the Finance Office. This appointment is provisional, pending successful completion of the Civil Service testing requirement.
Position Overview
The Student Records Specialist performs a variety of clerical and recordkeeping tasks related to student records. The role requires proficiency with computerized systems, careful attention to detail, and sound judgment in selecting appropriate methods and procedures. The position involves significant public contact, including frequent in-person and telephone inquiries, and requires working under general supervision with room for independent decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, manage, and update student records with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and other recordkeeping documents.
- Respond to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and the public in a professional and customer-service-oriented manner.
- Utilize computerized student record systems and develop proficiency in the Banner Student Information System.
- Apply independent judgment while adhering to established policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness in managing data and records.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Commitment to confidentiality and professional integrity.
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and diverse campus constituencies.
Requirements:
A. Completion of two (2) years (sixty credits) from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with coursework in business administration, office administration, business information management or a closely related field; OR
B. Graduation from high school OR possession of an equivalency diploma and two (2) years of experience maintaining records; OR
C. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
Must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.
Additional Information:
The hourly rate for this position is $19.18.
This position is not to exceed 22.5 hours per week within the core business hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
This position is represented by the ESPA bargaining unit.
Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
